About Us
Adam & Carrie Barnhardt met in college while students studying agriculture at NC State University. Adam, a Poultry Science major, did not grow up on a farm and was interested in working in the poultry industry one day. Carrie was an Agricultural Science major and a 3rd generation dairy farmer's daughter. She was passionate about agriculture and heavily involved in FFA. Her parents made the tough decision to sell the herd while she was in college after the dairy market crashed in 2008. She struggled for a bit finding her identity outside of farming, which lit a new fire in her at 19 years old. She still had dreams of raising her future children on a farm, no matter how hard the journey would be.
After getting married in 2015, Adam & Carrie began to seriously discuss how they could start a farm from scratch. With a banker who believed in them, Barnhardt Farms of Rowan LLC was established in 2017. They immediately began construction on 4 poultry houses where they produce fertilized eggs on a private contract basis (sorry - these are not available for sale to the public). With Adam on the farm full-time, he and 2 other awesome staff are able to collect nearly 8 million eggs annually. The eggs go to an incubator and are hatched to then be taken to area broiler farms and be raised as meat birds for retail outlets.
The Barnhardt's welcomed 2 children, Tucker in 2018 and Macie in 2020. In 2021, they diversified into raising sheep and cut flowers. In the Spring of 2025, the co-founded with their friends (Adam & Christina Bryant) B & B Livestock, LLC in Trinity, NC - also a Randolph County Food Hub vendor! In 2025, Carrie left her 13-year career in the corporate agricultural world to come back to the farm full-time. They obtained their Nursery License and Meat Handlers License to be able to sell both their potted perennial plants and pasture-raised meat off the farm. They opened a small farm store/floral studio in the Spring of 2026 and held their 1st Annual "Peony Palooza" event this May. Carrie also offers floral design services utilizing either blooms from their farm, from local flower farmers, or as a last resort, can source imported blooms.
We are excited to be offering our potted plant selection to the Randolph Food Hub this season! Your dollars matter to help keep us doing what we love most - farming. Thank you for checking us out and learning about our farm.

Practices
All plants are potted by hand and lovingly raised by Carrie Barnhardt. These are my babies!
I don't spray just to spray. I will only spray an insecticide if there is a detrimental outbreak that will critically damage the crop, or invade your home's landscape. A few leaf munches or beneficial bugs don't bother me if it doesn't bother you!
We hold a Nursery License with the State of North Carolina.
